My First Blog Ever!!

Well I have been wanting to start a blog for quite awhile so I could keep family up to date on whats going on with our little family. I am new so please bear with me. I should get better as time goes on.

Life has been crazy the past 6 months with the arrival of our little guy Blake Thomas. He is growing so fast. I can't believe he will be 6 months old in about two weeks. He has 4 teeth, can roll over and is eating solid foods. He still isn't sleeping through the night, but that will come soon.

I will try to update as much as possible, but there's a start.

5 Generations

Blake is lucky enough to be able to have a great-great grandma. This is one of my favorite picures because it has all the generations.

3 weeks old!

We got Blake's newborn pictures taken when he was 3 weeks old. He wasn't to thrilled about it but were able to get some good shots anyways. The people at J.C. Penny were surprisingly patient and did a really good job!

Welcome Baby Blake!!!! (pics and birth story)

Blake joined our family on Monday February 11th, 2008 at 12:54 p.m. He weighed in at 8 lbs and 20.5 inches. It was quite along road to get here but I woudln't change a thing. He arrived healthy and thats all that matters.

At 20 weeks at our "big" ultrasound we went from being super excited to super scared. The Ultrasound tech sent us straight to the hospital because the ultrasound showed that my cervix had shortened. The next few days were a blur and we had to make a pretty hard decision. We could either leave me cervix alone and hope that our little man stayed cooking for as long as possible or we could get a procedue to stitch my cervix closed. The procedure itself could cause your water to break or pre-term labor. After weighing all of our options we decided that doing the procedure would be the best option. The next 4 months were the longest ever. We had tons of appointments to check the baby's progress. The days got easier as we hit the big milestones, 28 weeks then 32 and then before I knew it we were 28 weeks.

On February 10th I got up and my water broke. I was so excited because not to much earlier I thought this day would never arrive. My husband and I made sure all was packed and headed to the hospital. Me neve having a baby thought that everything would progress quickly because my water had broke. Well that was not the case at all. I was in labor for about 12 hours when they decided to do the pitocin to try to speed things along, that really didn't make things change to much and the epidural kept wearing off. It wasn't until about 26 hours later that my Dr decided a c-section is the only way that the baby was going to come out. So off to get a c-section.

It was such a whirlwind but man do I wish that we would have just gone with a c-section from the beginning. Because I was on an epidural for so long they had a very hard time getting me completely numb. I could still feel alot of what was going on, TONS of pressure and even a sharp pain here and there. But man did all of that seem to fade away quickly when i heard the first crys of my son. He was such an amazing and healthy little boy. He scored a 9 on both of his APGAR's and was just perfect in every way possible!!

Blakes Room

Eric and Andrew did an amazing job on painting the baby's room. I was surprised it turned out so good considering they have never painted before.

Our First Home!

This is our first house!!! It is so exciting to finally not be renters. I haven't gotten around to taking pictures of it with all our stuff, this is pictures with stuff from the previous owners. We are still finishing up making it all our own. Its been quite time consuming trying to decorate with an infant around but we should be done shortly. When I am done decorating I will take pictures and put those ones up.
